The original 101st Airborne Division Vietnam Veterans Assocation, founded by CPT Ed Harris (Ret) supported the retroactive Air Assault Badge awards for Vietnam combat veterans from the beginning.

Both the Texas and Illnois VFW support the Retroactive Air Assault Award. A support request from the VFW national organization is pending approval now.
