HEADQUARTERS 101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION (AIRMOBILE) AND FORT CAMPBELL

FORT CAMPBELL, KENTUCKY 42223

TO. THE SOLDIERS OF THE SCREAMING EAGLE DIVISION

Effective this the first day of February 1974, I authorize the Airmobile Badge to be awarded and worn in the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile) by those Screaming Eagle soldiers who earn it by meeting prescribed standards.

The Airmobile Badge can be won by this division's airmobile soldiers of all grades, all branches, all MOS. It follows in the tradition of the Glider and Airborne Badges that are worn proudly by Screaming Eagle soldiers.

The Airmobile Badge is an earned badge. Its winner will be a proud, confident, skilled airmobile soldier who meets the following criteria: minimum of 90 days service in the division; MOS qualified; rated excellent in conduct and efficiency; qualified as marksman or higher with assigned personal weapon; pass the Ranger/Special Forces Physical Fitness Qualification Test (less the 15 meter swim) with minimum score of 60 points in each event and minimum overall score of 350 points; complete the Division Airmobile School of a week's length.

The requirements for winning the Airmobile Badge are demanding. Only willing, able airmobile soldiers can earn the badge. Airmobile soldiers will be better for having earned the privilege to wear the Airmobile Badge. Airmobile units will be better for having trained their soldiers to qualify for the Airmobile Badge. The Screaming Eagle Division will achieve a higher degree of combat readiness when its soldiers have earned their Airmobile Badges. Finally,' the Airmobile Badge will become the proud emblem of the airmobile soldier just as the Glider and the Airborne Badges are proud emblems of the glider and airborne soldiers. The Airmobile Badge will belong to the airmobile soldier alone:

Badges and emblems change with technology and technique of warfare, but one constant remains unchanged ‑ the "all the way" fighting and winning spirit of the Screaming Eagle soldier of the 10,1st.Airborne Division (Airmobile). This is our heritage.
